10 Best Upcoming Shooter Games for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2

Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 are getting a surprisingly varied lineup of shooter games. Some focus on large-scale battles, while others mix gunplay with horror, exploration or co-op mechanics. There are also several returning series that are changing their usual formula for Nintendo’s newer hardware. From Call of Duty and Turok to smaller titles such as ANOMALITH and Holstin, these are some of the most interesting shooters currently heading to Switch platforms.

007 First Light

007 First Light takes a broader approach to third-person shooting by mixing gunfights with stealth, gadgets and close-range combat. Bond can enter restricted areas quietly, manipulate guards or switch to direct action when a plan falls apart. Vehicle sequences also add faster moments between infiltration sections. The game’s detailed environments and cinematic presentation make the Switch 2 version particularly interesting, especially because missions are designed around more than simply moving from one firefight to the next.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

Space Marine 2 brings some of the largest battles in the genre to Nintendo Switch 2. Titus can tear through huge Tyranid groups using rifles, heavy weapons and brutal melee attacks. The campaign supports solo play and three-player co-op, while separate PvE and PvP modes add more ways to keep playing.

Seven classes come with different weapons and perks, so team composition matters during tougher encounters. The biggest question will be how well Switch 2 handles the game’s enormous enemy counts.

Holstin

Holstin blends survival horror with a shooter system that changes depending on what you are doing. Exploration uses an isometric perspective, but combat moves the camera closer to the character for more direct aiming. Ammunition is limited, which makes avoiding enemies just as useful as fighting them.

Its detailed pixel art, rotating environments and dynamic lighting create an unusual look. The setting also helps it feel different from more traditional military or science-fiction shooters coming to Nintendo platforms.

Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed

Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed gives Crypto a much larger playground than the first game. Telekinesis can throw enemies and objects across the environment, while weapons such as Meteor Shower can destroy entire groups at once. Crypto can also pilot his saucer and attack cities from above. Human DNA is used to improve abilities, adding progression between missions. Larger open areas and a wider arsenal make the sequel feel more focused on experimentation and destruction than straightforward third-person shooting.

SiN Reloaded

SiN Reloaded keeps the interactive systems of the original FPS while updating almost everything around them. Players can use security cameras, terminals, elevators and even vehicles instead of simply clearing one room after another. Enemies react to location-based damage, including shots that can knock weapons from their hands. Nightdive has also refreshed the textures, models, controls and interface through the KEX Engine. The Wages of Sin expansion is included, making this more than a basic visual remaster.

ANOMALITH

ANOMALITH combines third-person shooting with exploration, inventory management and risky expeditions into unstable areas. Reona enters Anomaly Zones, fights strange creatures and searches for useful equipment before trying to return safely. Ammunition needs to be managed carefully, while weapons can be modified with attachments.

Artifacts provide additional stat bonuses and build options. The constantly changing environments are another major part of the game, with inverted buildings, distorted corridors and streets that appear to repeat without end.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

Modern Warfare 4 marks Call of Duty’s return to Nintendo hardware with a native Switch 2 version. The campaign moves through very different combat scenarios, including trench warfare, urban firefights and large assaults. Multiplayer keeps the series’ fast gunplay but introduces more controlled movement and twelve new 6v6 maps at launch. Large-scale battles also include vehicles. DMZ returns as another major mode, combining looting, squad tactics and extraction mechanics with Call of Duty’s familiar shooting system.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 expands the original co-op structure by supporting teams of four players. Xenomorphs can attack from walls, ceilings and narrow corridors, so positioning becomes just as important as raw firepower. Five main classes encourage different team roles, while the Specialist class provides more freedom for custom builds. Weapon traits, firing modes and Augments add further customization. Horde mode also gives players a separate place to test those setups against increasingly aggressive waves of enemies.

Armatus

Armatus combines fast third-person shooting with roguelite progression in a demon-infested version of Paris. Combat constantly shifts between firearms and a scythe, which means players need to manage both ranged attacks and close encounters. Each run introduces new celestial abilities and passive upgrades that can change the direction of a build.

Death resets the run, but experimentation remains central to the experience. Ruined streets and supernatural environments give the action a darker identity, making Armatus one of the more unusual Nintendo Switch shooter games currently on the way.

Turok: Origins

Turok: Origins moves the series into third-person combat built around solo play and three-player co-op. Players face dinosaurs, alien creatures and large bosses using firearms, bows, melee attacks and special abilities. Defeated enemies provide DNA, which can be used to improve weapons and unlock new powers.

Missions also move beyond traditional jungle environments, taking players through caves, swamps and other planets. The stronger focus on abilities and teamwork gives this Turok a noticeably different structure from earlier games.

Final Thoughts

The upcoming shooter games lineup for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 covers far more than traditional first-person action. Modern Warfare 4 brings a major competitive FPS back to Nintendo, while Space Marine 2 focuses on large-scale co-op battles. ANOMALITH and Holstin take more experimental approaches, and Turok: Origins pushes an older series in a new direction. With both large releases and smaller games on the way, shooter fans should have plenty of different styles to choose from.
