New AAA games for Nintendo Switch 2 are opening the door to much larger third-party releases, from open-world RPGs and military shooters to survival games, tactical adventures, and Soulslike action. Some are completely new titles, while others are expanded editions or remastered versions built for the stronger hardware.
Performance details are still missing for several games, but the current lineup already suggests that Nintendo players will have access to a much broader range of major releases than before.
Turok: Origins

Turok: Origins leaves behind the series’ classic first-person structure and shifts to third-person action. The campaign can be played alone or with up to three players, with battles against dinosaurs, airborne creatures, alien forces, and enormous bosses. Combat combines plasma rifles, bows, shotguns, sniper weapons, melee attacks, and character-specific abilities.
DNA collected from enemies and the environment can improve ammunition, unlock new powers, and transform Turok’s armor. Missions take place across multiple planets, with locations ranging from ancient temples and barren canyons to forests, caves, and swamps.
007 First Light

007 First Light follows a younger James Bond who has only recently joined MI6. Rather than presenting him as a fully experienced agent, the game focuses on a talented but reckless operative who is still learning how to handle espionage missions. Players can listen to conversations, steal important items, gather clues, use stealth, or bluff their way out of suspicious situations.
Q’s gadgets are hidden inside objects such as a watch, phone, pen, and lighter. They can be used to unlock doors, control systems, and distract guards. Missions move between Iceland, Malta, Slovakia, and other locations, combining open-ended infiltration sections with large action sequences.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 brings the series back to Nintendo hardware with a campaign built around a large international conflict. The story begins with an attack involving North Korea before moving through covert operations, city battles, chases, and nighttime raids. The movement system also adds climbing, vaulting, and ledge-grabbing.
Multiplayer includes 12 main maps, Gunfight arenas, and Big War battles that combine infantry with vehicles. DMZ returns in the Hajin region, where players complete objectives, collect equipment, and attempt to escape before losing everything they have gathered.
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave centers on the Heroic Games, a tournament where the winner receives a single wish. Players choose one of four heroes, with each character following the same wider conflict through different motivations, allies, and story events.
Battles retain the series’ grid-based tactical structure, where positioning, attack range, and unit abilities are essential. Between tournament matches, limited time can be used to train fighters, recruit allies, explore dungeons, gather resources, or battle enemies outside the city.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis rebuilds Lara Croft’s first adventure with redesigned environments, updated combat, and more connected level layouts. Lara travels through Peru, Greece, and Egypt while searching for the pieces of the Scion, with familiar areas returning in larger and more detailed forms.
Puzzles have been redesigned, and some sections can now be approached through different routes. Combat still uses Lara’s dual pistols, but a new Focus meter allows time-slowing acrobatic attacks. Platforming, exploration, and environmental puzzles remain the main focus.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered brings Cyrodiil to Switch 2 with rebuilt environments, improved lighting, updated character models, and more detailed facial animations. Players can follow the main story involving the Oblivion Gates or spend hours completing faction quests for groups such as the Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, and Thieves Guild.
Combat animations, hit reactions, sprinting, the interface, and the third-person camera have been modernized. The package also includes Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine, and the other major additional content released for the original game.
Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is one of the biggest new AAA games for Switch 2, combining the base game with the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion in a single package. Its open world does not constantly guide players with objective markers, instead encouraging exploration through landmarks, hidden paths, ruins, and environmental clues.
Melee weapons, magic, bows, shields, spirit summons, and special abilities allow the same boss to be approached in many different ways. This edition also adds new starting options, extra armor sets, and additional appearances for Torrent.
DayZ

DayZ is an open-world survival game without traditional quests or scripted mission chains. Players search for food, water, medicine, weapons, and equipment while dealing with disease, harsh weather, infected creatures, and unpredictable encounters with other survivors.
Large maps, vehicles, base building, and persistent online servers turn each session into part of a longer survival story. The greatest tension comes from knowing that several hours of progress can disappear in seconds after one mistake or unexpected attack.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen brings the open-world action RPG to Switch 2 with expanded content. Players can change vocations to create builds based on melee combat, archery, magic, or hybrid abilities, while quests can often be completed in different ways.
AI companions known as Pawns assist during battles, share information, and guide players through dangerous areas. Combat also allows characters to climb directly onto giant monsters and attack weak points. The snowy region of Norgan adds new enemies, dungeons, equipment, and abilities.
Lords of the Fallen II

Lords of the Fallen II once again connects the world of the living with Umbral, a nightmarish realm of death. The Umbral Lamp allows players to move between both realities, uncovering hidden routes, treasures, enemies, and environmental details.
Combat follows the Soulslike formula with stamina management, heavy weapons, magic, dodging, and large boss battles. Learning when to enter Umbral may be just as important as memorizing enemy attacks, as dangers and pathways can change between both worlds.
Armatus

Armatus is a third-person roguelite shooter set in the ruins of Paris after the city has been overrun by demons. Each run combines firearms, close-range scythe attacks, celestial abilities, and upgrades that allow players to create different combat builds.
Death ends the current run, but new weapon and ability combinations change how the next attempt plays. Fast movement, large enemy groups, and brutal finishing attacks keep the combat aggressive, while the ruined Paris setting gives the game a distinct visual identity.
A Stronger AAA Lineup for Switch 2
The variety of these new AAA games for Switch 2 is just as important as their scale. The lineup includes tactical RPGs, open-world adventures, shooters, survival games, cooperative action titles, and technically demanding Soulslike releases.
Resolution, frame rate, and visual quality will still determine how well some of these games perform on the system. Even so, the growing lineup suggests that Nintendo players could receive far more major third-party releases throughout the Switch 2 generation.
