Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Reveals New Switch 2 Gameplay and Features

Nintendo has finally put a date on one of its biggest upcoming releases. Zelda Ocarina of Time Switch 2 will launch on November 5, 2026. The Nintendo 64 classic returns with rebuilt visuals, modern controls and several changes for the new hardware.

The announcement came during The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct. Nintendo also showed an extended look at the remake in action. The new version stays close to the structure of the 1998 game. At the same time, it modernizes both the presentation and the way the adventure plays.

Ocarina of Time gets more than a visual upgrade

Nintendo has completely reworked the environments, textures and character presentation for Switch 2. Cutscenes now feature full voice acting, while character conversations have also been expanded. The soundtrack has received a new orchestral treatment, and loading times have been reduced.

Movement has changed as well. Link can now jump with the press of a button, while a reworked camera gives players more freedom when exploring Hyrule. Some transitions into shops and smaller areas are now seamless, although certain loading transitions from the original have been deliberately retained.

The ocarina itself also has a new trick. Players can hum melodies instead of entering every note through traditional controls. Nintendo is even preparing a physical ocarina accessory that can be used with the feature.

Price and physical edition details

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will cost $59.99 in the United States. Nintendo is also preparing a special first print run of the physical edition with textured foil cover artwork. That packaging will only be available while supplies last.

The remake will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo originally revealed the game in June, but the latest presentation finally gives players a much clearer picture of how the classic adventure is being updated.

With a November 5 release now confirmed, Ocarina of Time is set to become one of Nintendo’s major Switch 2 releases heading into the 2026 holiday season.
