PEAK is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, bringing its cooperative mountain-climbing adventure to Nintendo players for the first time. Developed by Aggro Crab and Landfall, the game originally launched on PC in June 2025 and quickly attracted attention for its unpredictable physics and teamwork-focused gameplay. The console release arrived on October 22, 2026, with cross-platform multiplayer and all the major content updates released so far.
Unlike traditional platformers, PEAK doesn’t give you a straightforward path to follow. Every climb involves difficult decisions, limited resources, and the possibility of losing your progress after one poorly timed movement.
What Is PEAK About?
A group of nature scouts finds itself stranded on a mysterious island following a plane crash. Their only chance of rescue is to climb the enormous mountain rising above the surrounding landscape. The objective sounds simple, but getting to the summit requires much more than finding a route. You must carefully manage your stamina, search for supplies, and navigate dangerous terrain where even a small mistake can send you tumbling down a cliff.
Climbing is controlled through individual movements rather than automatic platforming. You need to judge distances, find suitable handholds, and decide when to stop and recover. Injuries, hunger, and environmental hazards make those decisions increasingly important. A difficult section becomes even more complicated when several players are involved. One person might reach a safe ledge while another runs out of stamina halfway up. Helping them can save the expedition, but it might also put everyone at risk.
Climbing Mechanics and Survival

PEAK combines physics-based climbing with survival mechanics that become more demanding as you gain altitude. Stamina determines how far you can climb before resting. Falling, suffering injuries, or consuming dangerous food can reduce your ability to continue. This means rushing toward the summit without preparing properly is rarely a good strategy.
Fortunately, the island contains useful equipment. Ropes help the group overcome difficult vertical sections, while climbing spikes provide additional support. Energy drinks and other supplies can also make a difference when your stamina is running low. Food is another consideration. Some items restore valuable energy, while others can poison you or create unexpected problems. Gathering supplies therefore involves balancing immediate needs against potential risks.
The different biomes introduce their own environmental dangers, including extreme weather and hostile creatures. Learning how these hazards work is just as important as mastering the climbing controls.
A Different Mountain Every Day
One of PEAK’s most interesting features is its changing mountain layout. The island rotates every 24 hours, giving players a new route to attempt each day. This prevents the adventure from becoming a matter of memorizing one perfect path. A reliable route from yesterday might disappear, forcing you to reconsider your approach and make use of different equipment.
You can attempt the same daily mountain multiple times, allowing you to learn from earlier mistakes. However, the next rotation introduces a fresh challenge. The game also includes badges to earn and cosmetic rewards to unlock. These provide additional objectives beyond simply reaching the summit, especially for players who enjoy completing difficult challenges.

How Does Multiplayer Work on Nintendo Switch 2?
PEAK supports online cooperative play for up to four players, and the Nintendo Switch 2 edition includes full crossplay. This means Switch 2 owners can climb alongside friends using Steam, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S. Everyone participates in the same expedition regardless of their platform.
To join friends on other systems, players can use room codes. One player creates a lobby and shares the code, while the others enter it through the Join Game menu. Communication plays an important role in surviving the mountain. Proximity voice chat allows nearby teammates to coordinate their movements, warn each other about dangerous terrain, and decide when to use limited supplies. There is one important restriction: PEAK does not include matchmaking with random players. You need to invite friends or arrange a group yourself.
Nintendo Switch Online is also required for online multiplayer on Switch 2.
Can You Play PEAK Alone?
Yes. PEAK includes an offline single-player mode, and you don’t need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to use it. The fundamental challenge remains the same. You still need to reach the summit, collect equipment, and manage your stamina while dealing with the mountain’s hazards.
However, solo play changes how you approach difficult situations. Without teammates, nobody can place a rope for you or help you recover from a dangerous position. Careful preparation becomes even more valuable. Playing alone is a perfectly valid option, particularly for anyone who prefers solving climbing challenges without coordinating with a group. Still, the cooperative mechanics are a major part of PEAK’s identity.
Price and Nintendo Switch 2 Availability

PEAK launched digitally on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22, 2026, with a listed US price of $9.99. The Switch 2 version includes the additional biomes, equipment, and other major content introduced through the game’s previous updates.
Players should also know that PEAK does not support cross-platform save transfers. Progress earned on Steam or another console cannot be moved to Nintendo Switch 2. The game is available on Nintendo Switch 2, not the original Nintendo Switch.
Is PEAK Worth Trying on Nintendo Switch 2?
PEAK takes a relatively simple idea and builds an unusual cooperative adventure around it. The mountain is more than an obstacle course, as stamina management, survival supplies, and unpredictable physics constantly influence how each expedition unfolds. Its biggest attraction is the interaction between players. Working together to overcome a difficult climb can be rewarding, while a single mistake may create problems for the entire group. The daily mountain rotation also gives teams a reason to return.
There are limitations worth considering. Random matchmaking is unavailable, online multiplayer requires a subscription, and solo players miss some of the interactions that make cooperative climbing so entertaining. Nevertheless, at $9.99, PEAK is an appealing option for Nintendo Switch 2 owners interested in physics-based adventures and cooperative survival games. If you already have friends playing on PC or another console, crossplay makes joining them considerably easier.
