Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days Is Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days is heading to Nintendo Switch 2, bringing PikPok’s tense zombie survival game to Nintendo’s latest hardware. The game has already built a strong following on PC, where it entered Steam Early Access on April 9, 2025.

Rather than focusing on constant action, Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days puts survival first. Players lead a group of survivors through Walton City, Texas, during a zombie outbreak in 1980. Staying alive means leaving the safety of a shelter, searching abandoned buildings for useful supplies and deciding which risks are actually worth taking.

Survival Goes Beyond Fighting Zombies

Combat is only one part of the experience. Players need to gather resources, craft equipment and improve their shelter while keeping the group alive. Stealth can often be a better option than starting a fight, especially when ammunition and other supplies are limited.

Survivors can also be lost permanently, which gives dangerous trips outside the shelter more weight. As Walton City becomes increasingly difficult to survive in, players are encouraged to move between refuges rather than simply building one permanent base.

The game uses a side-scrolling 2.5D presentation, but its systems go much deeper than the perspective might suggest. Resource management, stealth, crafting and survivor decisions all feed into the same survival loop. That structure has helped the game stand apart from more action-heavy zombie releases.

The PC Version Has Already Found an Audience

Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days currently holds a Very Positive rating on Steam. Around 92% of its English-language user reviews are positive, while the game has received thousands of reviews across all supported languages.

The current version remains in Early Access, meaning PikPok is still expanding and refining the game. Steam lists it as a single-player survival title with elements including permadeath, crafting, management and stealth.

The Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days Switch 2 release gives the game another chance to reach players who enjoy slower, management-driven survival games. Its combination of short scavenging trips, shelter management and persistent consequences also feels well suited to portable play.

More details about the Nintendo Switch 2 release are expected as development continues.
