Sugar Lies Nintendo Switch players will have to wait until 2027, but KOGADO STUDIO’s new visual novel already has an unusual idea at its center. Developed by Team S, the game focuses on lies, acting, and the complicated relationships that form when people constantly hide what they really feel.
The story follows Nobuto Nagatsuki, a young man who reacts physically when he realizes that someone is lying or pretending. His condition can become severe enough to make him feel sick, which makes normal social situations difficult. Things become even more complicated when he meets Mui Sakuramiya, a former child actress who has spent much of her life becoming the person other people expect her to be.
That contrast gives Sugar Lies its main hook. Nobuto struggles with dishonesty, while Mui has built much of her identity around performance. Their relationship appears to sit at the center of the story, giving the game a stronger emotional angle than a simple romance setup.
Another important character is Akari Yukihira, Nobuto’s childhood friend. She has been involved in stage acting from a young age and also has a strong otaku side. Her connection to both acting and Nobuto should give the story another perspective on the game’s central theme.
Sugar Lies Has a Strong Voice Cast
The main cast already includes several notable voice actors. Mui Sakuramiya is voiced by Ikumi Hasegawa, while Hikaru Iida plays Akari Yukihira.
The development team has also revealed several key staff members. Kawasyonin49 is handling planning, while Ringopann and Omoti are responsible for character design. Ryusei is composing the music, with Kawasyonin49 and Takaki Kitagawa serving as producers.
A Playable Demo Is Coming to Tokyo Game Show
Players will get an early look at Sugar Lies during Tokyo Game Show 2026. The event will feature a playable version of the prologue. This will give attendees their first chance to experience the story and characters directly.
A special presentation is also planned during the event. Members of the development team and cast are expected to share more details about the game.
Sugar Lies is currently planned for Nintendo Switch in spring 2027. A Steam version is expected earlier. The game will support English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
The game is still some distance from release, but its unusual premise gives it a clear identity. Sugar Lies does not rely only on romance or school-life drama. Instead, it builds its story around honesty, acting, and the roles people choose to play.
