How to Unlock Dive in Pokémon Pokopia

Pokémon Pokopia’s world will soon expand beneath the surface. A free update planned for August 2026 will introduce Dive, a new move that allows Ditto to travel underwater and explore familiar towns from an entirely different perspective.

However, installing the update will not immediately give every player access to Dive. Several parts of the main adventure must be completed first, so players who have not progressed far enough may need to finish some earlier objectives before they can begin exploring underwater.

Requirements for Unlocking Dive in Pokémon Pokopia

To prepare for Dive, continue the main story until you reach Bleak Beach. You must then complete the important request called “Raise the environment level!”

Two additional abilities are also required:

  • Unlock the ability to jump
  • Learn the move Surf

These requirements should already be familiar to players who have spent time developing Bleak Beach and exploring the surrounding areas. Anyone who has not completed them can use the time before the update to catch up.

Once the free update becomes available, make sure Pokémon Pokopia is updated to the latest version. Dive cannot be learned in an older version of the game.

The full in-game process for receiving the move has not yet been revealed. The Pokémon Company has confirmed the progression requirements, but it has not explained whether Dive will come from a new request, a specific Pokémon or another event introduced by the update. This guide will be updated when the exact steps become available.

When Will Dive Be Added?

Dive will arrive through a free Pokémon Pokopia update in August 2026. A specific release date has not been announced yet.

The update will be available to everyone who owns Pokémon Pokopia. Players will not need to purchase the Expansion Pass simply to learn Dive or explore underwater.

Once the update has been installed and the necessary Bleak Beach requirements have been completed, Ditto will be able to move freely beneath the water. This will open new spaces for exploration and allow players to view existing settlements from below the surface.

Do You Need the Expansion Pass to Use Dive?

The Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass is not required to unlock Dive. The move and the basic underwater exploration system belong to the free update.

However, Dive is required to enter Bubbly Basin, the underwater town included in the first part of the paid Expansion Pass. Players who purchase the DLC must complete “Raise the environment level!” in Bleak Beach and learn Dive before they can begin developing the new town.

This means free-update players can still use the new movement ability, while Expansion Pass owners will receive an additional area designed around it.

What Does Dive Allow You to Do?

After learning Dive, Ditto can travel freely underwater and explore areas beneath existing towns. The update will add another layer to exploration by opening spaces that were previously inaccessible.

Dive will also provide access to Bubbly Basin for Expansion Pass owners. This new underwater town will include additional Pokémon, building opportunities and content connected to the paid DLC.

More details about the underwater environment may be revealed closer to the update’s release. For now, the best way to prepare is to progress through Bleak Beach, complete its environment request and make sure both jumping and Surf have been unlocked.

Why Is Dive Not Available?

Dive cannot currently be learned because the free underwater exploration update has not been released. The update is scheduled for August 2026.

After it launches, check the following if Dive does not become available:

  • Confirm that Pokémon Pokopia is fully updated
  • Complete “Raise the environment level!” in Bleak Beach
  • Make sure Ditto can jump
  • Make sure Ditto has learned Surf
  • Continue any new requests added by the update

The final step may change once the complete unlocking process is officially revealed. Until then, completing the confirmed requirements will leave your game ready for the new underwater adventure.
