Digimon Story Time Stranger is getting a major new expansion called Legacy of Heroes. The DLC will bring players back to the Digital World for another adventure. Bandai Namco revealed the expansion with a new trailer during State of Play on September 3. The story takes place three years after the events of the main game.
Legacy of Heroes is planned for release in 2027. Digimon Story Time Stranger is already available on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
Legacy of Heroes Takes Place Three Years Later

Unlike the smaller episode packs released through the game’s existing Season Pass, Legacy of Heroes moves the timeline forward.
The new story begins three years after the main campaign. Its announcement trailer follows a young boy travelling across large environments and fighting alongside several Digimon. Bandai Namco has not yet explained his identity or how he connects to the characters from the original story.
This time jump gives the expansion room to explore what happened to the Digital World and its characters after the conclusion of the main game.
The trailer also contains material connected to important events from Digimon Story Time Stranger. Players who have not finished the main story may therefore want to avoid watching it until later.
A Bigger Expansion for Digimon Story Time Stranger

Legacy of Heroes is being described as a major DLC, separating it from the three Additional Digimon & Episode Packs previously released for the game.
Those earlier expansions focused on shorter side stories and additional Digivolution routes. The third pack, Anti-ParadoX, arrived in March 2026 and introduced another standalone episode alongside five new Mega Digimon evolution routes.
Legacy of Heroes appears to be taking a broader approach by continuing the world several years after the original story rather than adding another side episode within its existing timeline.
Bandai Namco has yet to reveal the DLC’s full Digimon roster, new gameplay systems or exact release date.
Coming to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2
Digimon Story Time Stranger launched for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 in July 2026. Both versions include the turn-based RPG adventure across the human world and Digital World: Iliad, with more than 450 Digimon available to collect and train.
Legacy of Heroes is scheduled to arrive sometime in 2027. More details about its new protagonist, Digimon and story are expected closer to release.
