SEGA is preparing two Sonic the Hedgehog bundles for Nintendo Switch. These releases are part of the blue blur’s 35th anniversary celebration. Instead of one large collection, SEGA is splitting the games into two physical bundles. These are Sonic Classic Collection and Sonic Modern Collection.
The Classic Sonic Collection includes Sonic Origins, Sonic Mania, and Sonic Superstars. This package is clearly aimed at fans of classic Sonic. It focuses on 2D-style gameplay, fast stages, and traditional platforming. The Modern Sonic Collection goes in a different direction. It includes Sonic Frontiers, Sonic Colors: Ultimate, and Sonic Forces. This bundle is more focused on the 3D side of the series.
Sonic Frontiers will likely be the biggest name in the Modern bundle. It offers a larger Sonic adventure compared to the other games in the package. Both collections are expected to launch in October 2026 for Nintendo Switch. Each bundle is priced at $49.99. SEGA is also adding a small bonus to the physical editions. Each one includes a 35th anniversary reversible cover sheet and a logo patch.

Of course, these are not brand-new Sonic games. They are collections of titles that are already available on Switch. Because of that, players who already own most of them may not need to buy them again. Still, these bundles could be useful for newcomers. They may also appeal to players who skipped several Sonic games over the years.
The Classic bundle looks like the better choice for old-school Sonic fans. The Modern bundle may be more interesting for players who prefer 3D Sonic gameplay. SEGA has not shared a specific release date yet. For now, October 2026 is the main launch window to watch.
