Square Enix has officially unveiled Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final chapter in the Final Fantasy VII Remake project. The highly anticipated RPG is also coming to Nintendo Switch 2, giving players the chance to experience the conclusion of Cloud’s journey on Nintendo’s newest platform.
The announcement revealed several major details about the game, including the return of the Highwind airship, new playable characters, and expanded locations that were not fully explored in previous entries.
Highwind Takes Exploration to a New Level

One of the biggest reveals is the return of the Highwind. The iconic airship will play a major role in exploration throughout the game.
Players will be able to travel across the planet, reach distant locations, and access areas that were previously unavailable. Square Enix has also confirmed new traversal options that make exploration feel larger than ever before.
For longtime fans, the return of the Highwind is one of the most exciting additions in Final Fantasy VII Revelation Switch 2.
Vincent and Cid Become Fully Playable

Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind appeared in Rebirth, but they were not fully playable party members.
That changes in Revelation.
Both characters will join the playable roster, giving players more combat options and allowing fans to experience two of the most beloved characters in the Final Fantasy VII universe.
Wutai Finally Takes Center Stage

Another major surprise is the increased importance of Wutai.
The location was referenced throughout previous games, but players never had the opportunity to fully explore it. Revelation changes that by turning Wutai into one of the game’s key regions.
This could also mean a much larger role for Yuffie and her story arc.
New FITS System Adds More Customization

Square Enix also introduced the FITS system.
The feature allows characters to equip different outfits and gain access to unique abilities. Early examples suggest that the system may offer playstyles inspired by classic Final Fantasy jobs.
If expanded further, FITS could become one of the biggest gameplay additions in the trilogy.
The Final Battle Approaches
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is set to conclude the remake trilogy and bring Cloud’s conflict with Sephiroth to its final chapter.
With larger areas, deeper customization, playable fan-favorite characters, and the return of the Highwind, the game is shaping up to be one of the biggest RPG releases of 2027.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation Switch 2 also represents another major release for Nintendo’s new platform, continuing the growing support from major third-party publishers.
