Warframe Iceblade of Narin Brings a Major Free Update to Switch 2

Warframe is preparing another major expansion of its ever-growing universe. Warframe Iceblade of Narin arrives later this month as a free update, bringing a new playable Warframe, fresh story content and several changes for players on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

Digital Extremes revealed the update during its latest developer broadcast. The headline addition is Narin, who becomes the 66th playable Warframe. Her abilities are built around ice, giving players another distinct combat style to experiment with across Warframe’s missions.

Narin Joins the Warframe Roster

Narin is a female Warframe designed around control over ice. While Digital Extremes has not revealed every detail of her kit yet, her introduction is one of the central parts of the new update.

The Iceblade of Narin will be released for free across Warframe’s supported platforms, including Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The Japanese announcement lists September 24 as the release date, while Warframe’s official international site lists September 23 because of regional timing differences.

That means Switch players will not be left behind as Warframe moves toward its next major chapter.

The Road to Tau Continues

The update is also connected to Warframe’s larger Tau storyline. Digital Extremes has been steadily building toward Warframe: Tau. This next chapter will take players beyond the Origin System and into a new binary star system.

Tau is planned as a major expansion of Warframe’s setting. The new region includes Fornax, a Sentient city that has fallen into crime and corruption. Its story takes place long after the events of the Old War. Digital Extremes has described Tau as the beginning of another major journey for the game.

Another important step arrives in October with a new community event focused on the journey toward Tau. Players around the world will work toward shared objectives. The event will help set the stage for the next part of Warframe’s ongoing story.

For Nintendo Switch 2 owners, the timing is particularly interesting. Warframe continues to receive the same major content updates as the other versions. Iceblade of Narin also gives players another reason to return before the Tau storyline moves forward.
