Mario Tennis Fever has received a new free update on Nintendo Switch 2, adding a Super Mario Galaxy-themed court, a new Fever Racket and additional multiplayer options.
Version 1.1.0 is available now and introduces the Galaxy Court, which changes both the appearance and behaviour of matches. Its lower gravity allows the ball to bounce higher than it does on standard courts, while the shape of the playing area can change depending on the selected mode.
The update also adds a special Galaxy Court Match. During these matches, one of three Prankster Comets can appear and temporarily alter the conditions on the court. This gives the new location a gameplay role rather than making it a purely visual addition.
New Black Hole Racket and GameShare Support
Players can also unlock the new Black Hole Racket. Its Fever Shot creates a growing black hole after the ball lands. The effect pulls nearby characters toward its centre and reduces their HP, although it does not pull in the ball itself.
Alongside the new racket, the Mario Tennis Fever free update expands the game’s multiplayer options through GameShare and Play via GameChat. Players who own the game can invite friends who do not have their own copy and play selected matches together through GameChat.
Both button controls and swing controls are supported in compatible tennis matches. Some activities from the Mix It Up mode are also available. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use GameChat.
Nintendo has added five more colour options for Luma and a classic costume for Mario as well. The costume becomes available after completing a specific mission in Adventure mode.
Version 1.1.0 also includes a long list of balance changes. Several characters have received adjustments to shot strength, serving, movement and their ability to return difficult balls. Fever Rackets have also been rebalanced, while a number of smaller issues affecting matches and online play have been corrected.
The update does not significantly change the main structure of Mario Tennis Fever, but it adds a new court with distinct rules and makes local-style multiplayer more accessible through GameShare. The Galaxy content is available as part of the free version 1.1.0 update on Nintendo Switch 2.
